Scouting Report: Abraham Toro
Kansas City Royals | 1B
Overall
Summary
Abraham Toro was placed on the 10-day injured list with a mild left oblique strain after leaving Saturday's game in the fourth inning while diving headfirst toward home. This is the second time Toro has dealt with a left oblique issue, having missed time last season with the same injury. The timing is particularly problematic for the Tigers, who are already dealing with multiple infield injuries including Trey Sweeney (shoulder strain), Javier Báez (ankle sprain), and recent returns of Zach McKinstry. Jace Jung was recalled from Triple-A Toledo to take Toro's roster spot.
Strengths
- Drawing walks at career-best 17.4% rate (3 ticks better than last year)
- wRC+ of 111 indicates 11% better than league average hitter overall
