Scouting Report: Grayson Rodriguez
Los Angeles Angels | SP
Overall
Summary
Grayson Rodriguez, 26-year-old right-handed pitcher, returned to MLB action on May 17, 2026 after a 655-day absence due to multiple arm injuries (shoulder inflammation, elbow issues, lat strain). He was traded from Baltimore Orioles to Los Angeles Angels for Taylor Ward in the offseason. After missing the entire 2025 season and starting 2026 on the IL with shoulder inflammation, Rodriguez completed two successful minor league rehab starts (2.79 ERA, 18 K in 9.2 IP) before making his Angels debut. His MLB return was disappointing: 3.2 IP, 7 H, 7 ER, 4 BB, 4 K against the Dodgers. However, his fastball velocity remained sharp (99 MPH). The extended injury history and shaky debut raise concerns despite his former prospect status and strikeout upside.
Strengths
- Strong fastball velocity (99 MPH) still intact
- Excellent strikeout rate in rehab starts (18 K in 9.2 IP, 2.79 ERA)
