Summary

Brendan Donovan, All-Star third baseman and key offseason acquisition for the Seattle Mariners, has been activated from the 10-day injured list after suffering a left groin strain on April 17. The injury was connected to sports hernia surgery he underwent in October 2025. Donovan was further complicated by a hip injury sustained on March 28 when he made a sliding catch against Cleveland. He completed a rehab assignment with Double-A Arkansas, going 1-for-3 with a double, RBI, and two walks as designated hitter. Before the injury, Donovan was hitting .304 with a .437 OBP, .518 SLG, .954 OPS, 3 home runs, 3 doubles, and 9 walks in 18 games. He returned to the Mariners lineup at third base and leadoff spot against the White Sox on Friday.

Strengths

  • Excellent pre-injury offensive performance (.304 BA, .954 OPS)
  • Strong plate discipline with 9 walks in 18 games
