Summary
Jared Jones, 24-year-old Pirates pitcher, is nearing return from UCL surgery (internal brace procedure) performed in May 2025. He missed the entire 2025 season recovering from right elbow injury. Currently progressing through minor league rehab assignments with impressive results: 1.88 ERA, 0.98 WHIP, and 11.3 K/9 across four rehab starts. Most recent Triple-A start (May 6) showed fastball velocity averaging 98.8 mph, up 1.5 mph from pre-injury levels, with a top velocity of 100.1 mph. Expected to need just 1-2 more rehab starts before MLB return. Pirates GM Ben Cherington anticipates several minor league starts before promotion.
