Scouting Report: Spencer Jones
Milwaukee Brewers | SP
Overall
Summary
Spencer Jones was promoted to the MLB by the Yankees on May 8, 2025, to replace Jasson Dominguez who was placed on the 10-day IL with a low-grade AC sprain. Jones made his MLB debut against the Brewers and has shown flashes of brilliance in Triple-A with elite power metrics (99th percentile in exit velocity, max exit velocity, and barrel percentage). In 33 Triple-A games, he posted a .258/.366/.592 slash line with 11 home runs and 41 RBIs (leading all minor league baseball). However, his strikeout rate remains a significant concern at 32.4% in Triple-A. Jones recorded his first MLB hit on Mother's Day against the Brewers and had a strong Subway Series start against the Mets with two singles and an RBI, though he also hit Clay Holmes with a 111-mph line drive that resulted in a fractured fibula for the pitcher.
Strengths
- Elite raw power - 99th percentile in exit velocity, max exit velocity, and barrel percentage
- Exceptional RBI production - 41 RBIs in 33 Triple-A games (1+ per game)
