Scouting Report: Daniel Duarte

New York Mets | RP

B

Overall

Summary

Daniel Duarte, 29-year-old right-handed reliever, was selected by the New York Mets from Triple-A Syracuse after exercising an upward mobility clause in his minor league contract. Duarte signed a minor league deal with the Mets in the offseason and has not pitched in MLB since 2024. He previously played for the Cincinnati Reds and Minnesota Twins with a career 3.99 ERA. In Triple-A, he posted a 2.60 ERA over 17.1 innings in 12 appearances, but underlying metrics reveal concerns with a 19.7% strikeout rate, 12.7% walk rate, and a 4.21 FIP that better reflects his true performance. His success has been aided by favorable luck (.255 BABIP, 82.5% strand rate). The Mets called him up to provide emergency bullpen depth due to injuries in their rotation, particularly Clay Holmes' fractured fibula.
