New York Mets | 2B

Overall

Summary

Jorge Polanco, 32-year-old switch-hitting infielder signed to a 2-year, $40M contract with the Mets to replace Pete Alonso, has been sidelined since April 14-18 with multiple injuries. Primary issues include a right wrist contusion and a left Achilles tendon injury with bursitis. He received a PRP injection in mid-April but continues to experience pain and flare-ups. Manager Carlos Mendoza stated there is no clear timetable for return, with Polanco having "good days and bad days." Return will depend on pain tolerance and the Achilles becoming asymptomatic. Polanco has been shut down from baseball activities multiple times and has not been scheduled for a rehab assignment. In his brief 14-game stint before injury, he slashed .179/.246/.286 with 1 HR in 61 PA, posting a 53 wRC+ with poor contact quality metrics (33.3% hard-hit rate, 87.3 mph avg exit velo).

Strengths
