Summary
Sung-Mun Song was recalled from Triple-A El Paso on May 6, 2026, to replace Jake Cronenworth (concussion IL). Song made an impressive MLB debut, going 2-for-4 with a double, 2 RBIs, 2 runs, and a stolen base in his first start against the Giants. He had previously appeared as a pinch-runner during the Mexico City series. Song signed a 4-year, $15M deal with the Padres and had been recovering from an early-season oblique injury. At Triple-A, he posted a .293/.364/.354 line with 3 doubles, 15 RBIs, and just hit his first home run (94.6 mph exit velo). However, recent reports indicate he struggled after his strong debut, going 0-for-8 with a 2:4 BB:K ratio and losing playing time to Fernando Tatis.
