Summary
Brendan Donovan, All-Star third baseman and key offseason acquisition for the Seattle Mariners, has been reinstated from the 10-day injured list after recovering from a left groin strain. The injury was related to sports hernia surgery performed in October 2025. Donovan was sidelined since April 18 but completed a successful rehab assignment with Double-A Arkansas, going 1-for-3 with a double and two walks. He returned to the Mariners lineup on Friday in Chicago, batting leadoff and playing third base. When healthy, Donovan has been one of Seattle's most productive hitters, batting .304 with a .437 OBP, .518 SLG, .954 OPS, 3 HRs, 3 doubles, and 9 walks in 18 games. Manager Dan Wilson expressed enthusiasm about his return. Donovan acknowledged residual effects from his surgery but indicated he felt good during his rehab work and is ready to compete.
