Scouting Report: Donovan Casey
St Louis Cardinals | RF
Overall
Summary
Brendan Donovan, the Seattle Mariners' All-Star third baseman and leadoff hitter, was reinstated from the 10-day injured list after undergoing offseason sports hernia surgery. He missed time due to a left groin strain that was complicated by a hip injury sustained during a sliding catch in late March. Donovan completed one rehab game with Double-A Arkansas (1-for-3 with a double and two walks) before being activated. When healthy, he has been one of the Mariners' most consistent hitters with a .304 average, .437 OBP, .518 SLG, and .954 OPS through 18 games. He continues to deal with residual pain from his core surgery but is optimistic about his recovery and learning proper hip maintenance techniques.
Strengths
- Elite offensive production when healthy (.304/.437/.518 OPS .954)
- All-Star caliber player and former Gold Glove winner
