Isaac Paredes -- Injury Report
Injury Report sources for Isaac Paredes of the Houston Astros
Isaac Paredes completed his first running and fielding activities since sustaining a right hamstring strain on July 19 in Seattle. Manager Joe Espada stated Paredes "looked really good" and expressed optimism about his progress. Paredes began hitting in the batting cages on Tuesday and was cleared to perform all activities.
Paredes emphasized he is progressing significantly but remains short of full health, stating he is "not 100% yet." He will travel to Florida this week for continued rehabilitation focused on leg strength and additional baseball-specific training. He noted he felt comfortable taking ground balls directly in front of him but continues working on lateral movements.
Both Paredes and Espada indicated it remains too early to determine whether he will return this season. Paredes chose rehabilitation over surgery based on doctors' opinions, prioritizing the opportunity to potentially return to play. He was hitting .259 with 19 home runs and 50 RBIs before the injury. With Carlos Correa having shifted to third base following the trade deadline, the team has not yet discussed Paredes' position if he returns.
